The Village of Lexington is a ZONED COMMUNITY. Land Use Permits are required for all types of construction. Some examples are as follows: New construction (both residential & commercial) additions, decks, porches, swimming pools, driveways, home occupations, signs, Bed & Breakfast establishments, sheds, parking lots, fences, mobile home placement, and many other types of structures, uses and development. Please call the village office if you are unsure if a permit is required. A building permit is required from Sanilac County Building Department AFTER obtaining the land use permit from the Village Office.
